{"id":12365,"date":"2022-08-12T12:07:05","date_gmt":"2022-08-12T19:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pluginamerica.org\/?p=12365"},"modified":"2023-03-17T10:21:42","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T14:21:42","slug":"calling-all-ca-residents-help-us-pass-sb1482","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pluginamerica.org\/calling-all-ca-residents-help-us-pass-sb1482\/","title":{"rendered":"Calling all CA residents: Help us Pass SB1482!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The EV Charging for All Coalition (which includes Plug In America, Acterra, California Interfaith Power and Light, and many other organizations) is proud to co-sponsor a key bill, SB 1482 (Allen), to reduce barriers to the equitable adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in California.<\/p>\n<p>Help us pass SB 1482 for EV equity: <a href=\"https:\/\/pluginamerica.salsalabs.org\/evchargingforallcaassembly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Send this pre-written email to your CA state Assembly Member now.<\/b><\/a> Thank you!<\/p>\n<p>SB 1482 is a critical step in ensuring that ALL Californians, including those living in apartments and condos, can access the environmental, health and financial benefits of EVs\u2014which means access to charging at the place where it&#8217;s most affordable, convenient and safe: <b>at home<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>This common-sense bill urges the CA Building Standards Commission (CBSC) to consider requiring newly constructed multi-family housing in California to give every unit that has a parking space access to EV Ready (plug-and-play) charging. Installing EV infrastructure at the time of new construction is <i>by far<\/i> the most financially prudent way to ensure equitable access to charging.<\/p>\n<p>SB1482 won approval from the CA State Senate in May, the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee in June, and the Assembly Appropriations Committee today.
