Various states across the United States offer electric vehicle (EV) purchase incentives to help accelerate the adoption of zero-emission vehicles. Below is a list of the top 10 states who provide valuable incentives. Find out if your state is on the list!<\/p>\n

1. New Jersey<\/h5>\n

New Jersey residents may receive up to $5,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new EV. The reinstated Charge Up New Jersey incentive<\/a> is a \u201cpoint-of-sale\u201d rebate applied during the purchase or leasing process at dealerships.><\/p>\n

Additionally, EVs sold, rented, or leased in New Jersey are exempt from state sales and use tax<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. Vermont<<\/h5>\n

The Vermont Agency of Transportation offers EV incentives up to $4,000<\/a> to qualified Vermont residents. Incentive amounts vary by income level and whether the vehicle is an all-electric or plug-in hybrid model.<\/p>\n

3. California<\/h5>\n

The California Clean Fuel Reward program<\/a>, a point of sale rebate for California residents who purchase or lease an EV, is available at participating dealerships. Depending on the vehicle, EV buyers can get up to $750 off.<\/p>\n

The California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project<\/a> (CVRP) offers rebates up to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of an EV. As of April 23, 2021, limited funding is available, and any new applications submitted will be placed on a rebate waitlist. Qualified applicants on the rebate waitlist may receive a rebate if the CVRP gets funding from the State of California.<\/p>\n

4. Colorado<\/h5>\n

Anyone who titles and registers a qualified EV in Colorado can receive a tax credit<\/a> of up to $2,800. The amount of the credit depends on the tax year and whether the car or truck is purchased, leased, or converted.<\/p>\n

5. Oregon<\/h5>\n

Oregon drivers who purchase or lease new electric vehicles whose MSRP is below $50,000 can receive the Oregon Standard Rebate Program<\/a>, a rebate of up to $2,500 depending on the vehicles\u2019 battery size.<\/p>\n

Eligible low- or moderate-income household Oregon residents may apply for the Oregon Charge Ahead Rebate<\/a> and earn up to $2,500 upon lease or purchase of a new or used EV from a dealer.<\/p>\n

6. Massachusetts<\/h5>\n

Eligible EV consumers in Massachusetts may qualify for the Massachusetts MOR-EV Rebate<\/a>. Qualified applicants could receive up to $2,500 for the purchase or lease of a new EV.<\/p>\n

7. Delaware<\/h5>\n

Delaware offers a Clean Vehicle Rebate Program<\/a> for its residents who purchase or lease a new EV. Delaware drivers who qualify for the rebate could receive up to $2,500. To be eligible for a rebate, the total vehicle price cannot exceed $60,000.<\/p>\n

8. Connecticut<\/h5>\n

Connecticut residents who purchase or lease an EV may qualify for the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate Program<\/a>, a rebate up to $2,225. Connecticut drivers who participate in certain income-qualified programs may receive additional funds up to $2,000.<\/p>\n

9. Maine<\/h5>\n

Efficiency Maine<\/a> offers instant rebates of up to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of eligible battery EVs at participating car dealers in Maine. Qualified low-income consumers may earn up to $5,500 for the purchase or lease of a new or used EV.<\/p>\n

10. New York<\/h5>\n

On behalf of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority<\/a> (NYSERDA), New York drivers can earn up to $2,000 at the point of sale rebate for purchasing or leasing a new EV at a participating dealership.<\/p>\n

Honorable mention: Washington<\/h5>\n

Washington drivers who purchase or lease a new or used EV are exempt from state vehicle sales and used taxes<\/a>. To qualify, the price of the new EV must be under $45,000, and for a used EV, the price must be under $30,000. Conditions and limitations apply.<\/p>\n
